Chapter 84 The Killing Game

Chapter 84 The Killing Game (XIV)

An arrow pierced the darkness from ahead.

Every now and then, crossbow bolts would fly close to the walls of the carriage.

Within seconds, Gu Mian heard the squad ahead shout several times.

"Captain, the front of the vehicle has passed! The driver is out of range!"

"There are two more people behind, get ready to fire."

The mine cart sped forward, and Gu Mian heard the source of the sound getting closer and closer.

"Prepare--"

The two were still climbing upwards when their voices were already very close.

Judging from the sounds, it seemed that in just a few seconds they would be facing a group of people carrying weapons.

Gu Mian didn't want to get shot in the buttocks, so he climbed upwards with all his might.

Just as a head wearing a gas mask appeared in Gu Mian's peripheral vision, he suddenly leaped upwards and rolled into the open-air carriage with a thud.

At the same time, he saw an arrow pass horizontally across the top of the ladder, where his head should have been.

The carriage was loaded with a lot of coal, and Gu Mian had to lie down so that her head wouldn't stick out.

At this moment, the fat man also put one hand on the carriage, but he also screamed a few times, presumably because he had been hit by a few more arrows.

Gu Mian reached out and grabbed the fat hand that was on the train carriage, and pulled it sharply, dragging the fat man into the carriage.

At this point, the fat man's back was like a target.

It's not actually that exaggerated.

He was hit by two arrows in the buttocks, one in the calf, and one in the left shoulder.

If you were to string hawthorns or something similar onto these long arrows, the fat man would now look exactly like a stand for candied hawthorns.

Fortunately, he wasn't shot in any vital areas. If Gu Mian hadn't pulled him away quickly, he might have already had his head blown off.

"Ouch, ouch..." The fat man dared not turn over, but lay in the carriage with tears in his eyes: "Doctor, quickly find a priest to heal me... I'm going to die."

Gu Mian glanced at the fat man's wound: "Stop with the nonsense, if you're sick, go see a doctor."

As he spoke, he gently pulled the long arrow off the fat man's buttocks outwards: "Does it hurt?"

The fat man groaned, "Damn it, how can it not hurt!"

"I'm asking you how you feel."

At that moment, the mine cart was speeding forward. Gu Mian heard the group of people who had been left behind catching up quickly. Then he heard something hit the back wall of the cart.

Arrows kept flying overhead.

But Gu Mian didn't have time to worry about that at the moment.

The fat man clutched his buttocks with one hand: "It just hurts... When you pulled it out just now, it felt like a whole piece of flesh was being ripped out..."

Gu Mian was silent for a moment: "Then this arrow should have a barb."

The fat man became agitated upon hearing this: "Those bastards!"

Gu Mian grabbed him and said, "Don't move. I'll break the arrow for you first, and then I'll gouge out the arrowhead after we get out."

"Wait, wait!" The fat man was quite frightened by the word 'gou': "Actually, it doesn't hurt that much. Can you just pull it out directly?"

"It might work on your butt, but not on your shoulder. If there are barbs there, it could tear your ligaments." The fat man shuddered at these words.

Before he could say anything, Chu Changge's voice came from the direction of the car in front: "They're catching up."

They've caught up?

Upon hearing this, Gu Mian looked towards the rear of the vehicle. How could two legs possibly keep up with the speed of a mine cart?

But after glancing at the back of the car, he understood why the group behind him was moving so fast.

Gu Mian lay prone in the carriage, looking towards the rear of the carriage, but could only see the rear wall. He noticed that a hook had been hung above that wall.

The hook was like the one used by ancient assassins in TV dramas to hook onto city walls. A rope was attached to the bottom of the hook, and once it hooked onto the city wall, one could climb up the rope.

Presumably, the group behind them was dragged forward by these hooks.

"This is really high-class..." Gu Mian said as she approached several hooks on the back wall of the carriage, trying to pry them off.

But this thing was stuck too tightly, and someone was pulling hard on the other end, so Gu Mian couldn't budge it at all.

"Doctor!" Gu Mian suddenly heard the fat man calling from behind her.

He turned around and saw that the fat man was holding a round thing in his hand.

"This is inside the carriage, ouch... the introduction says it's a bomb." The fat man said while covering his buttocks.

Gu Mian reached out and took it, and then his panel suddenly appeared.

[Abandoned bomb]

[Description: This is a local bomb used in the Killing Game instance, specifically for military use. It is extremely powerful and can collapse an entire mine (cannot be taken out of the instance)]

[How to use: Upon impact, it emits white smoke and explodes after fifteen seconds]

[Note: This bomb is ineffective and cannot be used.]

The mine cart was carrying a bomb; they probably intended to self-destruct here.

Gu Mian glanced around and found many of these things scattered in the carriage, but some were stuck in the coal and couldn't be removed.

These things were dark and almost blended in with the coal in the carriage; you really couldn't see them unless you looked closely.

"Doctor, can we use this thing to blow up those people behind us?" The fat man's voice trembled as he spoke, indicating that he was in a lot of pain.

Gu Mian quickly touched the bombs she could find around her: "Come on, these things are just for show, they're completely useless!"

They were all abandoned bombs; not a single one was usable.

Moreover, even if he could use it, he wouldn't dare to use it here. It could blow up the entire mine, and wouldn't that mean he would be buried here with it?
Although Gu Mian also really wanted to blow up the group of people behind her, she would lose a lot if she got caught up in it.

At this moment, Mr. Killer is in the live broadcast room talking to the squad leader of the Order Guard in the mine.

He gripped the communicator and asked, "Is this the squad leader of the Third Squad of the Order Guard?"

A crackling sound of electricity came from the other end, followed by a somewhat high-pitched male voice.

"Yes, we are carrying out a special mission at the request of the audience: to hunt down the three participants in the mine."

Mr. Killer stared at the screen: "Oh—the audience is really clamoring for the killing of these participants, but I see they've gotten on the minecart, and it seems like you're having trouble keeping up."

There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the communicator, then a voice came through: "Don't worry, we'll be right behind them. The minecarts will definitely stop at the entrance; they can't escape. We'll use firearms if necessary."

He chuckled as he said this, "Our Order Guard has never failed, and we will definitely deliver a performance that will satisfy the audience."
