Chapter 208 Completely Fainted

Chapter 208 Completely Fainted

What do you mean?

Didn't he successfully remedy the situation regarding Li Shiman's murder last night?

How come Charmaine Sheh was murdered again today?

It's still at 16:23.

Not a single cent off.

The whispers at the door interrupted his chaotic thoughts, and he turned his gaze toward the doorway.

A group of colleagues were gathered at the door, all staring at him with their mouths agape and eyes wide open.

He looked down at Li Shiman, whose face was a chilling white, and blood was still flowing from the wound in her chest, staining Wenjie's shirt.

When Wenjie looked up again, he noticed a slight commotion in the crowd at the entrance. His colleagues quickly moved aside, and soon a path was cleared in the middle.

With a gloomy face, Wen Tianyi squeezed in along the path that people had temporarily cleared for him.

His sharp and cautious gaze lingered on Wenjie and Li Shiman in Wenjie's arms for a moment, then his eyes darkened: "Call the police!"

Wang Hui followed closely behind Wen Tianyi, and upon hearing this, he hurriedly dialed the police.

After explaining what had happened and where he was, Wang Hui hung up the phone.

The scene he witnessed when he burst into the office flashed through his mind, and unconsciously, his gaze toward Wenjie became complicated.

"Wenjie, what happened?" Wen Tianyi asked first.

Wenjie was still holding Li Shiman in his arms. He murmured absentmindedly, "Li Shiman was already dying when I came in."

Wen Tianyi told the onlookers to disperse: "Wenjie, put Li Shiman on the ground and let her lie flat. We'll talk about it when the police and the ambulance arrive."

Watching Wenjie carefully lay Li Shiman flat on the ground, Wen Tianyi waved to him, signaling him to come out.

Wenjie got up, looked at the bloodstains on his body, and hesitated before going to the door.

Wen Tianyi looked carefully at his son's face, trying to figure out what Wen Jie was thinking. After a few seconds, he couldn't figure it out. He just felt that Wen Jie's expression was blank, and he didn't know if it was because he had suddenly been greatly shocked or for some other reason.

However, with so many people around, it wasn't a good time to say much. He simply patted him on the shoulder and comforted him, saying, "It's alright. Just tell the police what happened in detail later, and they'll catch the culprit."

Wenjie nodded blankly.

He's still completely bewildered.

He even activated the system and went to his personal attributes interface to look at the rewards and items he had obtained by completing system tasks.

The system task has been confirmed to be completed.

Liu Qingqing must have also received the system reward. He patted his phone, wanting to confirm with Liu Qingqing, but then suddenly remembered that he didn't have Liu Qingqing's phone number, so he shook his head and lowered his arms.

Wen Tianyi had been silently watching Wen Jie. Seeing Wen Jie raise his hand and then lower it again, he asked with concern, "What's wrong? What are you looking for?"

Wenjie's mind was completely focused on Li Shiman's death, and he had no interest in dealing with anything else. He said absentmindedly:

"……nothing"

How many people know the time 16:23?

The system's five patch carriers.

Of the five patch carriers, two died when entering the system scene, leaving three: himself, Liu Qingqing, and Zhang Zhipeng.

Is it Zhang Zhipeng?

Wenjie looked up. He was standing at the door of Li Shiman's office, and his line of sight covered the 16th-floor office area.

He glanced at the people in the office area, their eyes darting across his face, and blinked dismissively, his expression arrogant.

He hadn't seen Zhang Zhipeng since he arrived in Huahai. He had corrected Zhang Zhipeng's life trajectory. He and Li Shiman had completely severed ties before, and maybe the two of them didn't even know each other. How could it be Zhang Zhipeng?

But besides Zhang Zhipeng, all that was left was himself and Liu Qingqing.

It couldn't be him, unless he was insane and acting out of control. But he wasn't insane.

That leaves only Liu Qingqing.

Liu Qingqing should be working at the Second Precinct today as usual!

Wenjie narrowed his eyes slightly, trying to recall if he had seen Liu Qingqing go to the canteen to get lunch at noon in the Second Branch Bureau compound.

But my memories were irresistibly drawn to a slender figure.

He shook his head, trying to break free from the mental stagnation.

But in vain.

His colleagues in the office area began to whisper among themselves as a group of police officers walked out of his sight.

The one leading the group was Captain Wu.

For some reason, Wenjie's gaze drifted to Captain Wu's wrist. He raised his hand and touched his chin, suppressing the urge to laugh.

"Hello, Mr. Wen, I am the administrative captain of the North District Police Station. My surname is Wu."

Wen Tianyi stepped forward and shook hands with Captain Wu: "Thank you for your hard work. This is Li Shiman's office. Wen Jie was the one who found the body."

As Wen Tianyi spoke, he glanced at Wen Jie and pointed in his direction.

Team Leader Wu glanced at Wenjie, his gaze lingering on him for a moment.

As he walked over from the elevator, he noticed the bloodstains on the man when he was still a short distance away.

His expression turned solemn and alert as he stepped into the office behind them.

The strong smell of blood assaulted his nostrils. He rubbed his nose in anger, glanced at the police officer behind him, and waved.

Several police officers rushed into the office behind him to begin collecting evidence.

Captain Wu stared at Li Shiman lying flat on the ground, walked over, squatted down, put his hand under her nostrils, and checked her breath.

Then, he bent his fingers and pulled his arm back.

He stood up and looked at the half-eaten vase stuck in Li Shiman's chest. After thinking for a moment, he pointed to the lilies that had been thrown out of the table and said, "Nice flowers. Who sent them?"

From the moment the police arrived, Wen Tianyi and Wen Jie stood aside, watching as the police carried out their investigation and evidence collection work in an orderly manner.

When Wenjie saw Captain Wu's gaze sweep over the vase and then back to the flowers, a sense of foreboding swept through his mind.

In fact, he had this feeling from the moment he saw his colleagues standing at the door, looking at Li Shiman who was covered in blood in his arms.

Of all the people present, perhaps only his own father would trust him completely.

So when Captain Wu asked about the flowers, he wasn't surprised at all, and simply said, "I gave them to him."

"Oh? What's the reason for sending flowers?"

"Today is Mr. Li's birthday."

When Wenjie said this, he felt a chill in his heart: when he bought the flowers, he never imagined that Li Shiman would die on her 26th birthday.

"Oh, Wenjie, you found the body, right? Come in and tell me what happened."

Wenjie went over and recounted in detail what he had seen and heard when he entered the office to Captain Wu.

After hearing this, Captain Wu fell into thought.

After a long pause, he asked, "Why did you suddenly come to her office?"

Wenjie looked calmly into Captain Wu's eyes and said, "There is a high-level meeting at 4:30. All departments sent their materials to my office, but the public relations department did not, so I came to ask before the meeting."

Captain Wu nodded and said, "In a little while, you'll come with us to the police station to give a statement."
