Chapter 60 A Lifetime of Glory and Peace (29)

Nangong Yu brought five thousand elite soldiers to infiltrate the palace, surrounding the Golden Palace so tightly that not even a fly could get out.

There are quite a few military generals in the court, but one fist can't fight four hands, not to mention there are many civil officials who are too weak to even kill a chicken.

Those targeted by Shen Yun retreated one after another. The general hadn't said that Princess Rong'an's martial arts were so good.

Nangong Yu frowned before walking up to her. "If you surrender now, you can still save your life." This matter needs to be resolved quickly; the longer it drags on, the less chance he will have when reinforcements arrive.

However, as long as Gu Changjin is dead now, no one can hold him accountable.

Her eyes darted around, and she smiled charmingly, "How could the general know that I came alone? Look outside."

Suddenly, several eunuchs from her palace escorted a person in.

"Nangong".

Upon hearing this voice, Nangong Yu froze. He looked at her coldly and said, "So you do have a bargaining chip."

Shen Yun said smugly, "That depends on whether the general wants the country or the beauty." Although he might not even get the country.

The person being held captive was Hong Zhaodi. She was hidden very well; if Shen Yun hadn't had some kind of cheat code, he really wouldn't have been able to find her.

She looked around in horror, her heart filled with both surprise and joy. So Nangong actually had such a thought. If this move succeeded, wouldn't she be second only to the emperor?

The next moment, she looked at the person holding her captive, her eyes flickering slightly. Under these circumstances, would Nangong choose her? Or...?

No, she said firmly, raising her head with a sad smile. "Nangong, I've dragged you down today. Don't worry about me; the important things are more important." Though she said this, she was actually terrified. But even she, in her ignorance, knew that if Nangong failed because of her, she would also suffer a terrible fate. Fortune favors the bold; if she could get through it, she would be a person of high status.

All the suffering she endured in the past was worth it.

Upon seeing this, Shen Xiang frowned deeply, a hint of gloom flashing in his eyes. "General, don't let this ruin everything."

Shen Yun turned to look at him in surprise. Among all these court officials, Prime Minister Shen had always been the most loyal. Even if he had other thoughts, there was no need for him to change his mind so quickly.

Gu Changjin gripped her hand tightly, then gently shook his head at her.

Shen Yun ignored him. This older brother was good-looking, but he was not decisive at all. If it were her, she would just drag those disloyal people out and beat them to death. Why all this nonsense and sentimentality?

All they do is dawdle and procrastinate all day long; no wonder they were able to have their throne snatched away.

Contrary to his usual behavior, Gu Changjin held her hand tightly and pulled her to the front.

"Nangong Yu, are you plotting a rebellion today?"

Shen Yun rolled his eyes. Wasn't this obvious? "Brother, are you blind? Isn't this blatant rebellion?"

She raised her eyebrows slightly, her expression full of helplessness. That's true in her words, but she couldn't say it so bluntly.

Nangong Yu subconsciously tightened his grip on the ring on his finger, and a chill suddenly crept into his eyes as he looked at the person in front of him. He tried his best to appear more dignified, "Your Majesty is joking. How can it be called treason? This humble servant is merely following the will of Heaven."

Gu Changjin nodded in satisfaction. "Well said, 'In accordance with the will of Heaven.'" He clapped his hands, and the dragon pattern could be faintly seen on the bright yellow sleeves. "I want to see whether Heaven will help you, this traitorous minister, or me?"

As the clapping subsided, most of the surrounding guards drew their long swords from their waists, and for a moment, their fighting movements became incredibly synchronized.

Shen Yun blinked and stood there, stunned.

Nangong Yu's eyes darkened, and he thrust the dagger forward. With no one around to help him, Shen Yun could only grab Gu Changjin's arms tightly, use her legs to leap up, and then, taking advantage of his momentary lapse in attention, slammed the dagger into his face.

Caught off guard, the dagger fell to the ground with a clatter.

Shen Yun was ruthless and vicious. Nangong Yu's face was swollen and red. He staggered back a few steps, and before he could react, seven or eight swords were around his neck.

Her mind raced. Given the strength she was using to cheat, it would have been good if she hadn't shattered his skull and splattered his brains, but instead, she only suffered superficial injuries.

"Why?" Shen Yun asked, puzzled.

"The male and female protagonists still possess great fortune," 2345 simply stated.

I'm curious, why didn't she have that?

2345 made a slight digression: "[If you want it, there are two ways.]"

"What method?" she asked curiously.

The first method is to get the male and female leads to transfer the money to you voluntarily.

That's impossible. "What about the second one?"

[The second one... was stolen using the art of Yin-Yang harmony.]

Oh my god, Shen Yun's worldview was about to be shattered upon hearing this. She had lived for so many years, and although she was definitely single, she was quite clear about what she should and shouldn't know. What was this Yin-Yang Harmony Technique? Wasn't it just... you know... you know?

She waved her hand, "Forget it, I'll just wait for them to burn themselves out."

Gu Changjin, still shaken, glared at her fiercely before protectively shielding her behind him.

He had clearly forgotten who was protecting whom just now.

Standing before Nangong Yu, Gu Changjin said coldly, "General Nangong said he was following the will of Heaven, but is the current outcome in accordance with the will of Heaven?"

His face flushed red, and after a long while he finally uttered a few words, “The victor is king, the loser is villain. I have been defeated here. Do with me as you please.”

Gu Changjin looked around but didn't say anything. He simply waved his hand, signaling the guards to take everyone down, including Prime Minister Shen, who had been stirring things up.

Shen Xiang had thought that Gu Changjin would at least ask him a couple of questions, but to his surprise, Gu Changjin didn't even ask and just took him away. Even so, Shen Xiang didn't say anything, but just sighed deeply in his heart. He had been wise for half his life, but he never expected that he would lose his reputation in his later years.

Most of the people in the palace were arrested, leaving only some officials who had refused to change their tune earlier, and Hong Zhaodi who was being held captive.

She stood there flustered, somewhat at a loss.

Shen Yun smiled slightly, seemingly pleased, "I just troubled County Magistrate Deshu to star in a play."

"I……"

“This princess knows that what Princess Deshu said just now was to make Nangong Yu careless. Princess Deshu, you said… right?”

She hesitated for a moment, then her eyes suddenly hardened. "Yes."

Hearing this, Gu Changjin also looked over. He had previously thought that the two of them would never betray each other, but he never expected that they would go their separate ways when trouble came.
