Chapter 489 Frog in the Well
"What? Is there some secret about him that I can't find out?" Seeing Zhu Hong's expression, Chen Wei became even more interested.

"You can't say that, but how should I put it? I don't know much about him, because he's basically never out and about." Zhu Hong said, raising her hand to wipe away the tears from the corner of her eye with her fingers.

"However, that old guy is really good at fighting; he's invincible in prison."

"He occasionally goes out, and those who don't like him and go looking for trouble with him never end up well." As he spoke, he had already gotten his food.

Zhu Hong did not rush to leave, but lingered for a moment, waiting for Chen Wei.

After Chen Wei finished getting his food, Zhu Hong was about to say something when she swallowed, stared at his plate, and frowned, saying, "Why do you have so much meat?"

"Guess?" This was a reason that Chen Wei himself couldn't bring himself to say.

He glanced at it suggestively.

Following his gaze, Zhu Hong looked over and immediately saw that the cafeteria lady was staring at them with a lovesick expression, not paying any attention to serving food.

"It seems that the saying 'good-looking people can do whatever they want' is not a joke after all." Zhu Hong placed the plate on the table and sat down.

"So you think I'm handsome?"

"Do you really enjoy hearing others praise you?" Zhu Hong smiled faintly.

"No, not at all." Chen Wei sat down next to Zhu Hong. "Let's continue talking about Lin Yao."

"To be honest, I don't think he was treated like a prisoner at all." Zhu Hong added, "Of course, this is just my personal opinion, without any substantial evidence, so just take it with a grain of salt."

"Then what is your reason for thinking that way?" Chen Wei pressed.

"It's simple. Have you ever seen a prison warden bow and smile obsequiously at prisoners?" Zhu Hong put a piece of braised pork in her mouth, chewed it, and turned to look at Chen Wei, asking vaguely.

Based on Huang Yan's address of Lin Yao as "Old Lin" and Zhu Hong's current statement, Chen Wei is almost certain that Lin Yao is definitely not just an ordinary prisoner.

Curiosity killed the cat, so Chen Wei decided against pursuing the matter to the end and stopped the conversation there.

It shouldn't be difficult to find an opportunity to coerce or entice Huang Yan to reveal information about Lin Yao.

Chen Wei didn't ask, and Zhu Hong didn't say anything more.

"By the way, how did you get that injury on your face?" Chen Wei noticed.

Although Zhu Hong tried to cover it with her hair, he still noticed.

"Speaking of this, I'm still furious. That bastard Wang Hu actually tried to mess with my people. I got into a fight with him and ended up with a scar on my face. But he was in a worse situation than me; he lost an arm," Zhu Hong explained with a hint of smugness.

Zhu Hong's subordinates are all women, so Wang Hu's motives are not hard to guess.

"You filthy bitch, who are you calling a dog?!"

boom!
He slammed his hand on the table; the sound came from behind him.

"Damn! I didn't even notice he was sitting right behind me," Zhu Hong said speechlessly.

"I'm talking to you, so what?" Seeing Zhu Hong stand up to retort, Chen Wei smiled helplessly. Why are all these people so short-tempered?
Can't you just sit down and talk things out properly?
"I think you want to die!" Wang Hu picked up the plate and slammed it to the ground, making a loud noise.

Then, one by one, twenty or thirty people, like him, stood up and lifted their plates.

The group, in a grand procession, arrived before Zhu Hong.

Zhu Hong's sisters, of course, couldn't just stand by and watch her be bullied, so they all gathered around her.

"You stinking bitch, take back what you said!" Wang Hu raised his hand and pointed at Zhu Hong.

"Foolish dog." Zhu Hong sneered, completely disregarding Wang Hu and his entourage. In another sense, she could be considered a heroine among women.

"You bitch, are you deliberately trying to cause trouble?" Wang Hu gritted his teeth and chuckled.

"What do you care if I did it on purpose? I just don't like you, is that a problem?" Zhu Hong didn't back down at all.

"Fine, you want to die, huh? I'll grant your wish!" Wang Hu ran back to where he had been sitting, lifted the seat, and took out a sharpened iron skewer.

Without saying a word, it stabbed directly at Zhu Hong's eyes.

Zhu Hong was clearly taken aback when she realized that Wang Hu had hidden a weapon in the iron pipe under the stool.

With the iron skewer almost within reach of Zhu Hong's acting skills, it was too late for everyone to stop it.

Zhu Hong was prepared to kill Wang Hu if he couldn't kill her.

Since I'm going to die anyway, I might as well die sooner rather than later! At least I should drag that beast Wang Hu down with me.

"What do you want to do?" Chen Wei's voice suddenly rang out.

Wang Hu exerted all his strength, but still couldn't budge Chen Wei an inch.

The iron skewer was very close to Zhu Hong's eyes; any closer and blood would have splattered everywhere.

"You brat, who are you? Why are you siding with the woman?" Wang Hu questioned.

“She’s my friend. If I don’t stand on her side, am I supposed to stand on yours?” Chen Wei retorted.

“Friends? You can’t trust any woman. You’re standing here with them, you’re asking for trouble, don’t you understand? They’ll ruin you sooner or later!” Wang Hu said, spitting as he spoke.

"..." Chen Wei leaned back slightly, dodging the attack.

"You think you can kill me? You probably don't have the ability." Chen Wei's smile sounded more like a mockery.

How dare a caged bird flaunt its wildness?
"I don't have that ability?" Upon hearing this, Wang Hu turned his head and looked at the people behind him. "Did you hear what he said? He said I don't have the ability to kill him."

"You brat, don't you even know how many people in this prison were driven to their deaths by me, Wang Hu? I don't even need to lift a finger; I could kill you! You'd better think before you speak and don't test my patience." There was a lot of arrogance in Wang Hu's words.

Anyone can hear it.

"This is a prison, you're a prisoner. How come you're acting like you're above the warden? That you can kill whoever you want?" Chen Wei laughed.

He had seen arrogant people before, but he had never seen anyone as arrogant as this before.

This reminded Chen Wei of a saying: "The frog in the well, sitting in the well and looking at the sky."

Clearly, Wang Hu is like that frog in the well.

"That's the truth. Would I lie? Hurry up and kneel down to admit your mistake, then get out of the way, and I might spare your life." As Wang Hu said this, his eyes glanced towards the door.

His men had already closed the iron gate and were holding on desperately.

The sound of banging on the iron gate was incessant.

It would be a lie to say I'm not afraid.

"Have you blown enough? If not, keep blowing, I'm listening." Chen Wei raised his hand, gesturing for him to continue.
